We will rotate the moktak among participants and try to join the kido as much as we can. Outside of the kido we will maintain complete silence. There will be formal meals (breakfast and lunch) and a short work period. DESCRIPTION:Zen Cuisine Workshop with Chef Avital Sebagg \nJune 21 to 24 (arrival friday June 20) \nAvital Sebbag\, a vegan chef and certified practitioner of Chinese Medicine\, will inspire us to cook a stunning variety of nutritious and delicious vegan recipes inspired by Zen and ancient principles of nutrition. \nIn this 3-part workshop we will prepare summer season vegan recipes and will learn how to master the art of retreat cooking. This workshop is open to anyone that wants to learn more about vegan cuisine\, as well as kitchen masters currently helping on retreats or Zen Center’s kitchens\, to learn the skills required to organize a kitchen\,  create menus\, develop tasty\, healthy vegan recipes to nourish and support people on their practice and run a kitchen within a retreat setting. \nThe workshop will take place in our mountain Zen Center\, located in the middle of the pristine wilderness of the Alta Garrotxa Natural Park. She received dharma transmission from Zen Master Seung Sahn on October 10\, 1992. She was one of Zen Master Seung Sahn’s first American students and studied with him beginning in 1972. She was given inka in 1977. A registered nurse since 1969\, she currently works in hospice care. She helped found Providence Zen Center\, and lived there for seventeen years\, serving in a number of administrative capacities. Zen Master Soeng Hyang has a daughter and lives with her partner\, Mary\, in California.

At the end of the retreat we’ll held the Buddha’s Enlightenment Day Ceremony. \nThe retreats are silent\, in our mountain Zen Center located in the middle of nature\, in the incredible Natural Park of the Alta Garrotxa in the Pyrenees\, the ideal place for a retreat. Participants follow an intensive schedule of sitting and walking meditation\, chanting\, prostrations and formal meals\, in which one tries to keep alive the practice of attention at all times. With kong-an interviews and Dharma talk. \nAbout the teacher: \nArne Schaefer JDPSN began practicing in the Tibetan Kagyu Tradition –Diamond Way– in 1990. He started practicing Zen in the Kwan Um School of Zen in 1992 when he attended a YMJJ in Berlin with Zen Master Seung Sahn and since then has practiced with many teachers of the Kwan Um School of Zen in Europe\, Korea and the USA. In April 2010\, Arne Schaefer received Inka from Zen Master Wu Bong. He is guiding teacher of the Zen Centers in Dresdenand in Bad Bramstedt and of the Hamburg Zen Group. He was awarded a Master’s degree in religious studies in 1996 and a Master’s degree in psychology in 2002\, both from the Free University of Berlin. Additionally he has furthered his studies in solution-focused consulting and co-active coaching. Together with his wife\, Irmi Jeuther\, he established Lotus Consult to integrate their shared Buddhist background with their work as coaches and consultants. DESCRIPTION:Yong Maeng Jong Jin: to leap like a tiger while sitting. \nIntensive week\, led by Arne Schaefer JDPSN (7 days with midnight practice). \nIn this traditional retreat there is an extra practice period at midnight (between midnight and 2 o’clock there is a special energy and the effect of the practice is very powerful). At the end of the retreat we’ll held the Buddha’s Enlightenment Day Ceremony. \nThe retreats are silent\, in our mountain Zen Center located in the middle of nature\, in the incredible Natural Park of the Alta Garrotxa in the Pyrenees\, the ideal place for a retreat. Participants follow an intensive schedule of sitting and walking meditation\, chanting\, prostrations and formal meals\, in which one tries to keep alive the practice of attention at all times. With kong-an interviews and Dharma talk. \nAbout the teacher: \nArne Schaefer JDPSN began practicing in the Tibetan Kagyu Tradition –Diamond Way– in 1990. He started practicing Zen in the Kwan Um School of Zen in 1992 when he attended a YMJJ in Berlin with Zen Master Seung Sahn and since then has practiced with many teachers of the Kwan Um School of Zen in Europe\, Korea and the USA. In April 2010\, Arne Schaefer received Inka from Zen Master Wu Bong. He is guiding teacher of the Zen Centers in Dresdenand in Bad Bramstedt and of the Hamburg Zen Group. He was awarded a Master’s degree in religious studies in 1996 and a Master’s degree in psychology in 2002\, both from the Free University of Berlin. Additionally he has furthered his studies in solution-focused consulting and co-active coaching. Together with his wife\, Irmi Jeuther\, he established Lotus Consult to integrate their shared Buddhist background with their work as coaches and consultants.
