DESCRIPTION:Hybrid: face-to-face and online \nDecember 4 to 11 (arrival December 3). \nIntensive Week\, led by Arne Schaefer JDPSN (8 days with midnight practice). \nIn this traditional retreat there is an extra practice period at midnight (between midnight and 2 o’clock there is a special energy and the effect of the practice is very powerful). At the end of the retreat we’ll held the Buddha’s Enlightenment Day Ceremony. \nThe retreat is silent\, in our Mountain Zen Center located in the middle of nature\, in the Alta Garrotxa Natural Park. The participants follow an intensive program of sitting and walking mediation\, chanting\, bowing and formal meals\, trying to keep alive the practice of attention at all times. DESCRIPTION:Dear Sangha\, \nWe’re happy to invite you to our Annual Meeting of Members and European Sangha Weekend\, which will take place from 31 August to 1 September 2019 in Borisa\, Spain. \nMeeting of Members: Sunday\, 01.09.2019 11:00. \nLEARN MORE AND APPLY FOR SANGHA WEEKEND HERE \n\nSee the MoM agenda and Reports UPDATED!  \n \nWe invite all Zen Centers and Groups to join the Meeting of Members (MoM) by choosing their representatives.  Let your abbess/abbot/group director know if you want to add more topics to the Agenda and they will let us know. \n\nBefore 1st of July: Council’s and European Office’s action report and Financial Report (UPDATED HERE!) will be published here\nBefore 15th of July: Abbesses/abbots/group directors can add subjects to the agenda by sending them to European Office (comms@kwanumeurope.org)\n\nBefore 25th of August: Please organize your local Sangha meetings and choose a representative to vote and speak up for your Sangha during the MoM at your local Sangha meetings and send the information to comms@kwanumeurope.org:\n\n(1) name of the representative and which local Sangha do you represent\n(2) how many members you currently have. \n Teachers (JDPSN\, SSN) can serve as representatives in case no student is attending. The teachers can choose a representative but this representative can represent one teacher only. According to our bylaws\, you can choose your representative in any way you wish (discussion\, vote\, etc.)\, but the representative has to be approved by your guiding teacher. You are entitled to choose your guiding teacher or a person from another Zen Center or Group\, in case no one from your Sangha will attend the event. Representatives can represent up to 5 center and groups. \n  \nIMPORTANT – TRANSPORTATION \nThis year Sangha Weekend takes place in the mountains of Spain\, therfore it might be difficult to get there. Organizers are asking to think about transportation ahead of time and to group yourselves to rent and share cars. The participants follow an intensive program of sitting and walking mediation\, chanting\, bowing and formal meals\, trying to keep alive the practice of attention at all times. \nIn this retreat there will be kong-an practice\, Dharma talk and personal interviews with the teacher. \nAbout the teacher \nMyong Hae Sunim is the first Buddhist nun from Lithuania\, where she heard of Zen Master Seung Sahn’s teaching for the first time in 1991. She sat her first retreat with Zen Master Su Bong when he visited Lithuania in 1993. Myong Hae Sunim moved to Hwa Gye Sa Temple in South Korea in 1996 to train as a haeng-ja. She moved to Hong Kong after becoming a nun in 1997 to train under Zen Master Dae Kwan. Myong Hae Sunim has been in Hong Kong since 1997 and has served as head nun and vice abbot of Su Bong Zen Monastery. She has sat many retreats across Asia\, Europe and the United States. She sat her first retreat with Zen Master Su Bong when he visited Lithuania in 1993. Myong Hae Sunim moved to Hwa Gye Sa Temple in South Korea in 1996 to train as a haeng-ja. She moved to Hong Kong after becoming a nun in 1997 to train under Zen Master Dae Kwan. Myong Hae Sunim has been in Hong Kong since 1997 and has served as head nun and vice abbot of Su Bong Zen Monastery. She has sat many retreats across Asia\, Europe and the United States. DESCRIPTION:A one week retreat with midnight practice led by Zen Master Gu Ja is to be held at Bori Sa\, Catalonia. The arrival to the retreat is on Saturday 2nd December in the evening\, and ends Saturday 9th December at 11.00\, with Buddha’s Enlightenment Ceremony and informal lunch. \nThe retreat is silent\, in our mountain Zen Center located in the middle of nature\, in the incredible Natural Park of the Alta Garrotxa in the Pyrenees\, the ideal place for a retreat. Participants follow an intensive schedule of sitting and walking meditation\, chanting\, prostrations and formal meals\, in which one tries to keep alive the practice of attention at all times. There will be kong-an interviews and Dharma talks. We all practice together\, benefiting from the spectacular surroundings\, extraordinary energy of the mountains\, fresh air and spring water.
