October Zen Retreat, organized by Košice Zen Center, will take place in the Kwan Um School of Zen Retreat Center in Slanské Nové Mesto. Join us for two days of intensive practice — including meditation, bowing, chanting, and Dharma talk with Jan Sendzimir, JDPSN — October 10–12, 2025.

Jan Sendzimir JDPSN was born in the USA and began practicing with Zen Master Seung Sahn in 1975. In 1978, he became a Dharma teacher. Since then, he has practiced and often lived in various Kwan Um Zen centers in the USA, Vienna, and Mu Sang Sa in Korea, together with many of our masters. He was most influenced by Zen Masters Seung Sahn, Dae Bong, Dae Kwang, and Ji Kwang.
Having practiced directly with Zen Master Seung Sahn for many years, participants will have a unique opportunity to ask him about his personal experiences with our founding teacher.
In 1998, he moved to Europe, to Vienna, where he built a life with his then wife and two daughters. He currently lives in Vienna with his partner Hyon Ja SSN (Alma Potter SSN) and is the abbot of the Vienna Zen Center. He received inku (full teaching authorization) from Zen Master Ji Kwang in September 2022.

- Second entry (October 11, arrival between 17:00–18:00)
- Flat fee: 60 EUR
Please bring with you:
- Your own sleeping bag and towels, as well as loose ankle-length trousers in muted colors (preferably gray) for Dharma room practice. (Mats are provided.)
- Outdoor shoes and clothing (for work in the garden).
⚠️ Note for allergy sufferers: A cat lives in the retreat center!
Food intolerances should be reported during registration.
