Information Collection and Usage
Kwan Um School of Zen / Europe collects information you provide such as name, contact details and email address for which you gave your consent when you signed up to receive emails from us. You are not required to provide this information except when enquiring about an event or donating to the KUSZEu. We use your contact details so that we can contact you in case of issues with changes to event schedules, payment, and similar circumstances and send you our newsletter. We may also send you information relating to the event before, during or after the event. We use your banking details to process donations you have made to us and to send you a receipt for such donations. We also use your personal data to claim tax relief on charitable donations, if applicable. The KUSZEu also collects information about your use of our website including IP address, how much time you spend on the site and what you like to view, from both registered users and general visitors to the site. This data is used solely to manage the website, track usage and improve our website services. This information does not identify the user personally and may be shared with third-parties to provide more relevant services, for example with Google Analytics. We keep your data until you inform us that you no longer wish to receive news from us. If you are contacting the KUSZEu via email or website contact form with an inquiry, we will only use your details for the purposes of responding to your email.
Email Newsletter Opt In/Opt Out
We may use your email address to send periodic email newsletters regarding our retreats, Dharma talks and events. However, we will only do so if you have given us your permission. If you change your mind at a later date, simply click on the option to unsubscribe near the bottom of the email newsletter. To send our newsletter, we use the list provider MailChimp. MailChimp is a service provided by The Rocket Science Group, LLC, 512 Means Street, Suite 404 Atlanta, GA 30318. When you register for our newsletter, the data (name, email address) that you specify in the newsletter registration is transferred to MailChimp and stored there. The service provider MailChimp has its headquarters in the United States. Therefore your data will be processed on servers / datacenters in the United States. After the registration, you will get an email from MailChimp to confirm your registration (“double opt-in”). MailChimp offers many analysis possibilities on how the newsletter is opened and used. These analyses are group-centered and are not used by us for individual evaluation of newsletter recipients.

Security for all personally identifiable information is extremely important to us. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while we strive to protect your personal information, the KUSZEu cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit via the internet. In order to act mindfully, ethically and in accordance with current GDPR regulations Kwan Um School of Zen Europe recommends all its members to follow the below:
1. Do not forward emails to any third party without asking the writer for permission first.
2. Do not record any meeting without permission from the participants and the organizers.
3. Do not photograph any person neither on social platforms such as zoom nor in real life without asking them for permission.
Limitation of liability for internal content
The content of our website has been compiled with meticulous care and to the best of our knowledge. However, we cannot assume any liability for the currency, completeness or accuracy of any of the pages.
Pursuant to section 7, para. 1 of the TMG (Telemediengesetz – Tele Media Act by German law), we as service providers are liable for our own content on these pages in accordance with general laws. However, pursuant to sections 8 to 10 of the TMG, we as service providers are not under obligation to monitor external information provided or stored on our website.
