Oleg Šuk JDPSN (Dharma Master Shim Jeom) was born in eastern Kazakhstan in Ust-Kamenogorsk in 1964, into a family with Polish and Russian roots.
He studied architecture in the Soviet Union and at the faculty of architecture in Bratislava in Slovakia. He finished his studies there in 1987 and got married. In 1988 he and his wife started to practice at illegal sesshins in Prague and Poland (these activities were prohibited in Czechoslovakia).
After the revolution, he established and led with his wife a Zen center in Bratislava and then in Košice, where his wife and their two children now live. He founded the Slovak Zen school and he was its abbot.
After 20 years of practicing he received Inka in Warsaw from Zen Master Wu Bong on the 19 September 2009. His whole life he has devoted himself to art and he was a teacher at the art school in Košice.
Oleg Suk JDSPN passed away on 14th September 2020 after a long fight with leukemia.
