Stationary Training in Wubongsa

New volunteers for zen training at our zen temple sought! ⛩ If you want to get a taste of this training at Wubongsa, get up before six in the morning to establish the habit of regular meditation with other practitioners and our Zen masters, practice among Korean paintings and calligraphy, and learn more about Buddhism, write now.

We cultivate a bright lifestyle here, in which we don’t focus solely on ourselves, but include everyone who practices with us in a healthy, bodhisattvic way. Apart from the mandatory morning practice, cleaning duty and the occasional communal activity, people in training freely have their free time and can allocate it to practice, work, rest or entertainment. For decades, Zen practitioners have been coming to Wubongsa and doing several months or years of training here, resulting in positive lifelong changes.

We offer:

  • stay in single
  • affordable donation for training (around 250 euros/month)
  • simple, training equipment
  • access to a shared bathroom and kitchen (cooking on your own)
  • shared lunches on Tuesdays with Zen master Joeng Hye
  • access to the temple’s huge garden with stupa, chillout area and pine forests around
  • daily morning and evening meditation and chanting practice with Zen master Bon Shim
  • 50% discount on Wubongsa retreats
  • personal talks with teachers every month
  • Sunday morning practice with the Warsaw Sangha

There are currently 9 people at the temple (including Zen master Bon Shim), with more joining for daily practices. Preference will be given to those with experience in meditation. If the rhythm of meditation sessions has given you something you find difficult to cultivate with such intensity on a daily basis, training at the zen center is a natural, more balanced extension of this ongoing process.

Please note that the training challenges the body and mind and is in no way a form of therapy or rehabilitation for difficult moments in life – on the contrary, it requires motivation and inspiration.
